Alabama Immunization Partners was founded by local pediatricians in 2012 in response to Alabama State Legislature Bill SJR-11.  This bill encouraged a partnership between community  immunizers and local school systems in order to provide school-based flu vaccine clinics.  All students are eligible to participate provided all of the necessary information is submitted to your school nurse or administrator before your school's deadline.  Last school year we vaccinated over 3000 students and expect that to continue to grow.

 

For the 2023-2024 school year we will be returning to Vestavia Hills City Schools, Homewood City Schools,  Leeds City Schools, Highlands School, Westminster School at Oak Mountain, Advent Episcopal School, and The Altamont School.

 

We employ pediatric-trained medical personnel to administer both flu shots and flumist (nasal spray) to students  from preschool through 12th grade.  All of our flu vaccines are preservative-free and are from respected manufacturers such as Sanofi Pasteur, Glaxo-Smith-Kline, and CSL Seqirus.  Our Flu Shots are also egg-free.​

Please note that our staff will not restrain a student in order to give the vaccine.   If the student refuses we will recommend for you to take your child to their physician for vaccine administration.  Each child receives a record on the day of vaccination documenting which vaccine was given.

If you wish to have your child vaccinated at one of our school-based flu vaccine clinics you must return the Student Registration and Consent Form to your school's nurse, along with a copy of your child's insurance card.  Failure to answer all sections of the Student Registration and Consent Form, or to provide the insurance card, will result in your child not being vaccinated.  Your child's safety is out utmost concern.
